| Abstract: | This article discusses the effect of yoga on physiological and psychological stress. Yoga is an age-old practice with roots in India. There are many forms of yoga and all share an attempt to create a state of enlightenment, called ananda. Also, specific forms of breathing and exercises encourage physical purification. According to Lorenzo Cohen, director of the Integrative Medicine Program at the University of Texas, yoga is shown to be helpful for managing stress and mild anxiety. |
