Abstract: The effect of Yoga Nidra and Applied Relaxation Technique (ART) on steadiness and performance of archers was investigated. Twenty-one male archers (Age: 21-28 years, M = 22.86) were randomly assigned to either of the two treatment groups, namely Yoga Nidra (YN) and Applied Relaxation Technique (ART) group or to the control group, with seven participants in each. Fifteen 30-minute sessions of treatments were given to the two treatment groups over a period of three weeks. All the groups were tested on steadiness, actual performance and blood pressure, heart rate before and after the treatment. The Univariate Analysis of Covariance revealed that the three groups differed on the number of errors on the steadiness task. ART group showed maximum improvement on steadiness task. No statistically significant results were obtained for performance of archers. The findings are discussed in light of the mechanisms and principles underlying these treatments along with their application for sports persons.
