Abstract: Evaluated psychophysiological responses to a 2-day, yoga-based stress management program for 26 asymptomatic 34–54 yr old male middle managers. Measures included the Occupational Stress Index (OSI) and autonomic parameters, including heart and breath rates. Results for Ss with OSI scores greater or less than the median were analyzed separately. Results demonstrate that the whole group showed a significant decrease in breath rate after the program, with no other changes. 13 Ss with OSI scores greater than the median showed a significant decrease in breath rate, in the power of the low frequency component of the heart rate variability spectrum, in the low/high frequency ratio, and an increase in the high frequency component after the program. There were no changes in Ss with OSI scores less than the median. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
