| Abstract: | Reviews research on the effects of strong religious beliefs on coping with stress. Both positive effects of religious beliefs and negative effects of extreme religiosity are summarized. It is suggested that with the emergence of New Age spirituality and alternative medicine, there is now much interest in the traditional religions as well as yoga, meditation, reflexology, aromatherapy and massage therapy as stress relievers.
