Abstract: Reviews the concept of mental retardation as a kind of disability and describes therapeutic yoga methods useful in the rehabilitation of mentally retarded individuals. Cognitively, yoga is believed to improve memory, concentration, learning ability, curiosity, and way of thinking; biologically, it increases blood flow to the brain. It is suggested that proper training in and regular practices of Kriyas, Asanas, and Mudras yoga methods can improve patients' physical and mental health, enhance their socialization, and promote education and unskilled vocational training.
