Abstract: Studied the validity of 3 EEG indices: (1) overall structure of EEG autopower spectra based on the flicker fusion threshold; (2) topographic aspects over the human scalp region; and (3) the early receptor potential elicited by external stimuli. Human Ss: 9 normal male and female Indian adults (aged 27-36 yrs) (Ananda Marga monks); 1 normal male Indian adult (aged 53 yrs) (a yogi); 1 normal male Japanese adult (aged 72 yrs) (Yamazaki); 4 normal male Japanese adults (aged 20-22 yrs) (undergraduate students). In Exp I, EEGs were recorded during meditation (yogis) and relaxed states (normal Ss). In Exp II, Ss trained in yoga meditation were asked to meditate for about 40 min and then asked to assess the quality or depth of their meditation.
